Hi folks , I have a friend on tour in Canada and had to do a bit of under the dash repair , and in doung so had to take out the tripmeter , its an ex ambulance , and now he took a picture of where the sockets go on the box but then lost his camera !! It looks like the plugs are the same, but the pinout is different. Some of the sockets appear to be missing pins. What I would do is check whether any wires are missing for those pin locations and use that information to match them up.
It’s difficult to see the yellow connector clearly in the photo. Can you check whether any of the slots are blocked off, or if they simply don’t have wires installed? That should help identify the correct pin positions and make it easier to match the connectors.
Thank you for the help , the problem was that the part of the wiring diagram , that on the back of the VDO Kienzle Tachograph, was torn away ! Then I looked on E Bay for maybe one for sale and showing the diagram on the back and Bam there it was ! Then all he had to do was looked for pins that didnt have any sighn of use like scratches etc Its all good now and my friend is on his way with a working speedo ! No speedo in Canada or anywhere , where the speed lmit is 65mph can be expensive ! Cheers again Harry
